Nailpin - 12 To Go

Reviewed on Oct 8, 2005 by wimcruz

I know this band for a while now and I always thought they had something special, but I could not exactly specify what, and I still can't. Maybe it's the harmonic vocals, the catchy songs,...

Well, the first song of these guys I ever heard was Firm, Fixed and Forever, it had a rather poor recording quality, but I thought it had some vibe going on. A while later I saw to my surprise their first video on television ( Belgian stations TMF and JimTV ) and I was stunned by the progress they made and that they hadn't lost their special vibe, because sometimes when underground bands start playing for a bigger label, they change their style for the bigger audience. Well this band actually had a style that the bigger audience loves, so that was no problem for them!

Now for the style of the songs...
When you first listen to this cd, you think you have this new American release from some surfband. And then after the "take-out-dinner-order" you immediately get this catchy tune blowing through your speakers!
Then after this intro, you get the two recent hit-songs of the band; Together and Movin' On.
And when you think this band can only play the faster type of songs, then you're wrong. Because shortcut sounds like some sort of slower punklovesong.
This song is followed by a few faster and really catchy songs...

To me, this band is the Belgian answer to New Found Glory with an even more catchy edge! And a few days ago I heard that their cd will be released in Japan too! And you know how much success bands like Zebrahead and New Found Glory have there, so these guys will certainly hit it off there too!
Keep your eyes and ears open for these guys, you'll certainly hear about them in the future!
