All Time Low - So Wrong, It's Right

Fucking bland.

I love pop-punk as much as the next guy, but when a certain bands gets so popular that zillion other bands decide to copy their style; the quality needs to be immense to keep on interesting me.

That’s the problem with All Time Low’s second release “So Wrong It’s Right”. It’s a fairly good representation of accessible mainstream pop-punk, borrowing their sound from the likes of The Starting Line and Fallout Boy. However, after listening to a couple of tracks I realize I’ve heard it all before and better as well. The songs sound very shallow, lacking any form of a punch or substance.

Don’t get me wrong. Although most of the tracks on here sound pretty weak and shallow to me, it doesn’t mean this band isn’t catchy. Most tracks on here have good, catchy choruses. Catchiness only goes so far though: hardly any songs are mind sticking enough to have me actually put them on again. All except for the opening track that is. Opener “This is how we do” is the fastest song on the album and has a huge chorus. The lyrics might be cheesy, but those deliciously catchy back-up vocals make up for that.

Overall, I did not enjoy All Time Low’s second album “So Wrong It’s Right”. We’ve heard it before and we’ve heard it better. If only more songs sounded like the opening track, I would have probably praised the band for the fact that this kind of pop-punk can still be interesting. Now however, I’m stuck with an album with only one really interesting songs and eleven weak extracts of that song. Check this one out if you’re into older Fall Out Boy or the Starting Line… although you might as well just stick with those bands. All Time Low brings little to nothing new to the table.
