Paramore - Riot!

Reviewed on Nov 17, 2007 by Jimmyeatworld

Two years after their debut album was released, Paramore is back with the follow up for "All we know is falling" very briefly called "Riot!".

While the first album has a darker side, "Riot!" manages to sustain this feeling, however with a more optimistic feel to it, as well in lyrics as in melody, and therefor seems to make the album more open for people to listen to, however keeping the poppy image.

With the very strong and powerful opening track, "For a Pessimist, I'm pretty Optimistic", Singer Hayley Williams directly sets course to the direction she wants this album to go to, and allows the audience to get aboard of this record that moves like a freight train.

The four first four tracks being a bit rougher and faster in drums and guitars, "When It Rains" surprised me as being a slower, more emotional ballad, touching the deeper feelings. The perfect track for a rainy day!

A positive point on this album is the fact that you keep listening after the sixth track, where other albums seem to lose the audience.

Overall not the best album in the world, but one of the better in this category, with a style and a female singer to compare with former Avril Lavigne, except that Williams actually CAN sing.
