Pendleton step it up!

The end of the road for Scarrots

This time, we bring you some sad news. Funtime records artist Scarrots have decided to put an end to their long history as a band! They have been part of the Belgian punkrock/indiescene for more then 10 years and rocked almost every possible club in Belgium, including performances at festivals like Pukkelpop, Suikerrock and many more. Originally started as a ska/skapunkband, Scarrots soon outgrew that label to become an indierockband that still had the punkrock spirit and energy and succeeded in winning a lot of hearts with their debut album 'piece of sunshine' and their last album 'the sound of being lost' (released on funtime in 2007). Some months ago, their drummer decided to leave the band (their 4th drummer quitting the band !) and somehow the band didn't find the energy anymore to start all over once again. So this is it for Scarrots!

Maylene and the sons of lineup-changes

Due to the rigors of the road Lee Turner, Scott Collum and Josh Williams are no longer in Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, whom announced new members: Chad Huff, Kelly Scott Nunn and Matt Clark.

They have been long time friends of ours and some are former band-mates. You might know them from their work in Underoath, Further Seems Forever, Sleeping By the Riverside and Gods. Josh Cornutt remains in the band but being a newlywed he is currently at home spending time with his wife (and writing for our next record). We have also started working on a new record and we are really excited by the material the new guys are coming up with.

Mike and I just finished making copies of the new EP for ourselves at my apartment. We couldn’t be happier about the final product. Matt Hyde did a kick ass job once again. Updating the disco

Panic At The Disco's "Pretty. Odd" will arrive in stores on March 29th. It was recorded in Las Vegas’ Studio at the Palms, with additional production and mixing now underway at the world-renowned Abbey Road Studios in London. Produced by Grammy and Emmy Award-nominated arranger/composer Rob Mathes.

“It’s definitely different for us,” guitarist/lyricist Ryan Ross explained, “We’ve grown up a lot in these past few years and the different types of music we’ve been into will show through. We want to focus on the melody and what’s happening in the song rather than throwing a lot of distortion over everything".

The first single, 'Nine In The Afternoon', will be out on Monday February 4th.

The end of MCR?

A weird message can be found on the My Chemical Romance webpage, prompting fans to speculate on their future. On TheBlackParade.com there is a repeated image of a hospital monitor’s flatline and the message “00 BPM” on the bottom right hand side of the screen.

The band played as fictional group The Black Parade during their world tour earlier this year with singer Gerard Way telling the crowd on the opening night of a show in Plymouth : “We are The Black Parade.”

Panic! At The Disco have unveiled more details about their second album which is due out next March. Guitarist Ryan Ross said that the follow-up to their 2005 debut, ‘A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out,’ will draw more from the band’s live sound than their previous album.

"We just wanted the record to sound like four people playing a song," Ross told Billboard. "A lot of the songs are definitely more geared toward playing live; we didn't think about that on the last record."

Ross, who also writes the band’s lyrics, said that the band have been “working backwards” from their emo tag and that the ambitious album will feature string sections, harmonica and slide guitar.

"When I started playing music, all I was hearing was whatever was on the radio," he said. "I'm 21 now, so a lot of my musical tastes have changed."

The album has seen the band re-unite with producer Rob Mathes, who worked with them on their cover for Tim Burton’s 2007 movie ‘This Is Halloween.’

Lyrically the as-yet-untitled record draws from the band’s experiences since they were signed, Ross says.

Paulson gets the hang of it

As a follow up to their full length, "All at Once", Paulson will be releasing the Digital-Only Calling on You EP next Tuesday, on Christmas Day! The EP features 3 versions of "Calling on You," but what's more exciting are the three cover songs that appear on the second-half of the recording. A variety of cover songs have constantly appeared during the band's live set, and many of them have become fan-favorites, practically forcing this EP to be released. The band will be streaming various songs from the EP through the release date at Myspace. Currently, the band is streaming "Better Off Alone."

So I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to say about this... Today I found out we were officially dropped from Universal Republic. I can't say I'm dissappointed though.
We did everything in our power to avoid the horrible situation we were put into, but I guess that wasn't enough. I guess the label is kind of in shambles. I mean, if you feel like the man that brought you The Killers and Fall Out Boy is expendable; what the hell are we?
Whatever... most people in the "record industry" are shitheads, and don't have a clue what they're doing. That is the real resaon why records aren't selling anymore. I only know that my band is going to keep on keepin' on (as I like to say) and that we are already working on some badass new music. I feel like I want to fight for this more than ever before.

Confirmation sucks

Latterman officially anounced their break-up.

We were a band for 7 years and it was time to not be a band anymore. I was in New York less and less and there was some record label stress and things were just getting too weird with the shows we were getting asked to play, the things we were getting asked to do, and the way we felt the band was being perceived. I was tired. Basically, it just stopped making sense for everyone in the band to keep on doing the band.

Copeland to release b-sides

Copeland have left Columbia Records.

There were recently some pretty significant personnel changes at the label and some key people on our team were let go, including our A&R guy. He was the guy that brought us on board and was also our most important contact and voice there. At a big label, it's pretty crucial for a band to have those key team members in place.
So after months of red tape, we've been released from our contract and are frankly relieved. We're going to start getting a b-sides record together and we're looking to have it out THIS YEAR! (Nov. 27 is the likely date)

"We are actually writing at the moment. It is sometimes hard to find inspiration in the same things that may have inspired you when you were alot younger.. or put yourself in the same place where you were then but musically I will always have a love in my heart for those bands that inspired me to start writing songs.... Jawbreaker, Samiam, The Replacements, Descendents... I very much enjoy the energy of playing music along those lines. Even though artistically I may have changed personally. I do think The Ataris next record will sort of pick up where "end is forever" and "Blue Skies..." left off. After making a record such as "Welcome the Night" A record which I feel was very bold and honest artistically, and very much coming from the most truthful places in my heart and all that I was going through at the time. I feel that today where I am at is sort of coming around full circle and just having fun again and being newly inspired by the art that made me discover music in the first place. So yeah, I am excited for recording again. I think you will dig the songs."

Carrabba knows the shade of poison

Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba will be returning to an acoustic format with his next album. Titled "The Shade of Poison Trees", the new album, recorded over 10 days in Florida with renowned producer Don Gilmore, is due out October 2nd. today is august 14th. right now we are supposed to be on a flight to start a european tour which, as was announced last week, has been cancelled. canceling the tour was not an easy decision, not something we wanted to do, and not something that we take lightly. we didn’t cancel our first european tour last winter even when travis was playing every single show with a broken arm, and we didn’t cancel the next european tour after travis was ordered home by his doctors. touring and playing shows is the foundation of +44. sorry to anyone who had tickets to the shows this month. we were absolutely stoked to be headed over for a third tour, but this time it just wasn’t possible.
now we are starting to write the next record. we’ve got a bunch of ideas; a studio full of instruments, microphones, and effects; and a soundboard from the 1970’s. we’re excited to start putting together a new album.

The filaments say goodbye, re-invent themelves

The Filaments will be saying goodbye for good after one final release called "The Special Relationship EP", a split with their comrades The Stockyard
Stoics. Each band will provide 3 songs, and it will be released on good ol' fashioned 7 inch for all the boss DJs. Our friends at Fistolo in the US, Household Name in the UK, MSM1279 in Germany, Carnus in Spain, and Fight for Your Mind in France will be co releasing the slab.

On another note, the Filaments are currently in the process of reinventing ourselves, and will be releasing an album under a different name, with the added bonus of a mystery UK punk rock hero on vocals!! We are in the studio in August recording our debut album so keep your ears to the ground....

He and his wife recently had a baby so Wong has opted to retire from the band to stay home with his family. DEP drummer update

Dillinger Escape Plan have parted ways with drummer Chris Pennie, who is rumored to have now joined Coheed and Cambria. Gil Sharone (Fishbone, Plus 44) will be his replacement. The band just announced their new record will be called "Ire Works" and will be out this Fall.

Joey takes last train, has a thing with dead penguins!

Lagwagon frontman Joey Cape has posted a new track on his personal myspace page.

I just finished mixing this song. I wanted to post something before I left for tour with The Gimme Gimmes tomorrow. The song is called "This Is The Last Train". O.K., So... This version was originally a demo. I later recorded it with another band. The band has no name. Actually, the band has about 20 names. We just can't decide which one isn't bad.
For now, I will refer to that band as "Dead Penguin", my favorite title in the running. Dead Penguin's version of the song is a rock version. I think it sounds like "Pinkerton" era Weezer. Anyway, I recorded an entire record with Dead Penguin in December 2006. That band is made up of 4 of my oldest friends and of course myself.
The full album should be complete by September. There is no label and no plans. I know what you're thinking. Isn't he in enough bands already? Yes I am. Dead Penguin was just a project purely for fun. I can't wait for people to hear that record. It's raw, unpolished and nothing like anything I've done.

Men women & children would like to proudly proclaim our freedom from our now former home at warner/reprise records. We are free to explore
the best options for the future of the band. Our forthcoming album will NOT be affiliated with WBR nor will it suffer from the poor distribution our debut endured. We are very lucky for this freedom to explore the "right"
options for us since most contractually obligated bands can end up crippled by a lack of both passion and resources. We have been hoping for this for quite some time now and for it to finally be the reality of our situation is both liberating and motivating. Hopefully now with this change of events we can move swiftly into the studio and deliver you our proudest work yet.

Alexisonfire cancel rest of European Tour!!

This just in from the organisation of Rockfest! The band have cancelled their shows from may 4th through may 12th due to a family emergency. Statement from their manager:

I will be sending one band member home early tomorrow morning, and the rest of us will follow on monday. There's one phone call no one on tour wants to receive, and we got that call last night. We couldn't predict it. These things happen. It's unfortunate, and we wish circumstances were different. We promise to do what we can to make up these shows to everyone, especially the kids. Unfortunately, these are circumstances we can not help, or predict. We would love to power through and finish these dates, but family comes first, and we can't lose sight of the obligations back home. Again we apologize for this, but we have no choice but to go home immediately. Thank for everything and hopefully we'll see all of you later this year.

There's no escaping this time next year

Escapist Records is pleased to announce the signing of Bay Area pop-punk act This Time Next Year. Kevin Kjonaas is part of the SHAC7 who are 6 activists and a corporation, Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty USA Inc., that have been found guilty of multiple federal felonies for their alleged role in simply campaigning to close down the notorious animal testing lab, Huntingdon Life Sciences. The six individuals are all currently in federal prison. They are not accused of actually smashing windows, liberating animals or even attending demonstrations, rather reporting on and encouraging others to engage in legal demonstrations and supporting the ideology of direct action. No Turning Back from these re-releases

There's no stopping… No Turning Back are re-releasing their first two albums “Damage Done” and “Revenge Is A Right” on their own Bust! Records. Nightmares in the day?

Warsaw-based Daymares have just finished work on its debut album entitled "Can't Get Us All". The 11-song album bridges heavy and pissed off hardcore, punk rock and death'n'roll and is likely to appeal to fans of Entombed and Integrity as well as Tragedy or even Damnation AD. Dominic Davi gets the sack!

Love Equals Death have parted ways with bassist Dominic Davi (ex-Tsunami Bomb) who is charged with the rape of a Virginia woman. Band statement reads like follows ...

Some of you may or may not know that Love Equals Death was dealt quite a blow about three weeks ago when we had found out that our bass player was facing serious charges. Well, we would like to make it perfectly clear here at camp LED that we do not in any way condone any such behavior related to these charges. We, however are not a judge or a jury and don't want to be one any time soon. We are however a band that really just wants to continue playing music. We know that these times have been severely trying for Dominic(bass player in question) and the accuser. We hope for the best outcome for all parties. However, Dominic will no longer be playing music or working on behalf of Love Equals Death. This matter that he faces requires all of his attention right now and we (Tonio, Duffs and myself) wish him well as I know all of you do. I personally know that his love for music will always keep him in the scene and i'm sure those who support him will be seeing him around very soon.

End of the road for RUFIO

well... its been a while friends... and we've finally decided that its time to do an official farewell show with all the members of rufio on June 1st. We thought it would be a good way to show our appreciation to all our hometown friends and fans who have supported us from the very beginning. Fandangle album due out in September ?

In a recent Myspace Blog, Fandangle explain the delay on the release of their new album ...

When we were in LA recording it we didn't have enough time to finish all of the brass harmonies and vocal harmonies and there were still things that we wanted to change in terms of arrangements and so forth. So we thought that it would be ok and we could finish it at the end of february, but then tour came along really quick and spent a month and a half around the UK again. The idea is to spend a large chunk of April and May in the studio re-recording some stuff and mixing it. Then it has to be sent back to LA to have the entire cd mastered. We are really thinking that it will be released in September in time for our 3 month UK party tour which consists us playing with bands such as The Toasters, Mr Shiraz, Freefall Felix, etc.

Panic! at the concept album plans

A recent interview with MTV revealed Panic! at the Disco's plasn to come out with a concept album of sorts. The band is currently staying in Nevada writing songs and plan to recruit producer Rob Mathes (Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack).

We all got together and created this — I guess you could call it a concept — that we all wrote and we were all involved with and pretty interested in. Most people who listen to our music can't relate to what it's like to tour and play shows and live on the road. That's the last thing we want to write about, because we do it all the time anyway. It's kind of a love story. It's a timeless age of romantic, poetic fantasies.

Punkrockbands in the news ...

Dominic Davi, ex Tsunami Bomb and currently in Love Equals Death, has been arrested for an alledged rape of a Virginia woman. More on that here. Also, ex Mest singer Tony Lovato was jailed on suspicion of murder in Los Angeles this Sunday after police said he confessed to stabbing his ex-girlfriend's new lover. That story can be read here.

First Polish band to get a newspost!

From March 30 until April 5th, Polish-based quartet Third Degree will enter its local Studio X in order to record the second full album tentatively entitled "Punk Sugar". "Punk Sugar" will hit the streets in summer 2007 via Selfmadegod Records.
