Interview with Brazil

Posted on May 1, 2007 by DevotedToMusic

Brazil are a Alternative Rock band from Muncie, Indiana in America who are on Immortal records. I caught up with James to find out a bit about the band and being a rockstar.

Band Members:
Aaron
Newby
Eric
Nick
Phillip
James

Where the furthest the band has been for a gig?

In 2005, the band played a small show in the half-Inuit, half-Quebecoise town of Sept-Iles, which is a small port on the North Coast of eastern Quebec. It was ungodly cold, and ungodly far. On a map, it looks like you're driving to the end of the world. Strangely, all the scene kids look like kids from anywhere else, thanks to the Internet and Myspace.

Who named the band?

I (Jonathon) proposed that we name the band Brazil, and no one objected.

Whose idea was it to start a band?

Mine.

With no new monster bands so far this decade, how does a band get noticed and make a living now?

It's a strange industry. It's one where the best thing you can do for your career is to die. i can't say I particularly like the taste of gunmetal, but give it time.

What are your strengths/Weaknesses as a band?

Strengths: We are completely amazing.

Weaknesses: We are criticized for being far too humble.

How do other bands describe you as people?

Raging alcoholics, distempered geniuses, unbalanced malefactors. So on and so forth.

Tell me a bit about yourselves….

See above.

What's the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to do?

Stay at their place. What kind of person willingly asks 6-8 filthy strangers to sleep on their floor?

What's the strangest gift someone has ever given you?

The gift of life.

Finally….whats the best thing about being a rockstar?

The best thing about being a rockstar is the constant stream of positive and negative energy being directed in our direction. I wouldn't wish this life on anyone, but I personally need it in order to function properly.
