MiMi Soya have been together since2006. They have all got 1 thing in common, they all have a passion for burning hot Punk music.
They are based in Brighton and Horley, UK.

The band members are :

Hero = Vocals
Chris = Guitar and backing vocals
Mike = Bass
Joe = Drums

I Alexandra was able to catch up with Chris to find out more about the band.

How did you all meet?

Mike, Joe and myself all come from the same town.

We all attended the same school and shared the same friends, so our lives would intertwine quite frequently whilst growing up.

Joe loved to take big greasy dumps in bushes and Mike loved to get paralytic, its hard to see why we wouldn't of got on.

Joe, I personally had met from an early age, his mum would run an afterschool kids scheme where parents would abandon their children after school and go enjoy theirselfs elsewhere.

I never forgave me parents for putting me through that.

Mike and I had met through the same friendship group, and not untill later in our lives, we actually made conversation.

We both played bass at that time and had simular haircuts, so we found each other a threat.

Mike and Joe both rehearsed at the same practice rooms and played gigs together in their previous bands, that is,from what I believe how they met!

I met Hero through online networking a few years ago,

we would chat every now and then, but it never became anything more.

When we had lost lucy ( our second singer) last year, I sent out bulletins saying we were in need of a new one, and were holding auditions in Brighton.

Hero jumped at the chance and turned up, and passed the audition!

Did you instantly know you were destined to form a band together?

Haha not at all!

The town we're from is very small, we knew what the other member played but we never chased it up.

It took us moving to Brighton to realize!

The band name is an interesting one. Who came up with it?

Our first original singer came up with it, she left shortly after..... haha

Why did you name the band Mimi Soya?

We felt it was original and had an eastern quality to it.

It also would represent our music well!

What bands inspire you?

Personally, most pop/rock/punk music, I do take elements from Sting, and also my favourtite classical composer Nobuo Uematsu.

But it would be safe to say most Pop/Punk music!

Is there any particular band who you would really like to tour with?

God, probably New Found Glory and Girls Aloud, purely for Cheryl Tweedy (not Cole) haha

You have very catchy lyrics. How do you manage to come up with them?

All lyrics written between myself, Lucy and Hero were all genuine experiences, such as "A Memoir" which was written about Reading Festival, and You didn't let me finish being about a teenager and your friction with your parents.

We keep them as sounds as possible!

Tell me about yourselves.

I'm pretty skinny, Hero can lick her elbow, Joe loves to dance with a sock on his cock and Mike, when drunk, can steal car matts out the back of taxis........we all love streaking to.

What is your main goal about being in a punk band?Anything else you would like to say?

We love what we're doing and we want it to stay that way!
