Interview with Weerd Science
Posted on Oct 12, 2005 by Tom
This interview has been long in the wait, but finally Josh, drummer for Coheed & Cambria and MC for Weerd Science, fired some of our questions back at us, hinting at far more than you'd suspect at first glance. To be continued for sure ... (most questions by Murta btw)

Who are Weerd Science and what do you respectively bring to the group?
Well, Weerd Science the person is me Josh Eppard. I'm the mc and right and play most of the music. Dave Parker and Illchuck act as producers. When you have a project like this it's hard to give a specific title to those involved. It's like yeah I'm Weerd Science but I could never be without the other dudes.
How did you guys hook up and how long as Weerd Science been in the pipeline? Has being in another band made it more difficult to record and go out tour?
10 years or so and hell yeah being in a successful rock outfit has made it hard to give Weerd the attention I think it deserves.
How does being in Coheed affect your fanbase? Do you think that you're appealing to fans of music genres, which (in general) tend to steer clear of hip-hop?
I just wanted to make whatever felt good. Maybe some Coheed fans like Weerd but I don’t really know.
Your lyrics are pretty ballsy, what do you think of mainstream hip-hop and rap artists mellowing out and going all soppy about their kids, parents and spouses?
They do? Most main stream shit I hear is about money and how much more of it they have than me! If cats other than Eminem are talking about family shit that’s awesome. If they’re coming from the heart more power to them.
At face value, some people might construe your words as sexist (particularly on "Girl, Your Baby's Worm Food" and "The Sitcom..."), what would you say to them?
As far as being sexist I'd say "your right" "yeah I wrote a song a bunch of guys thought was funny, and yeah my girlfriend sucked my best friends dick. And I kissed her n was maybe a lil upset at the time.
Have you received any unfair things said about you from die-hard hip-hop fans, based purely on you being a member of Coheed?
Yes, because I'm in a rock band I can't possibly be a credible hip hop artist. That’s the most retarted thing ever!
Explain "Joshua, They're Laughing At You" to us, if you would be so kind.
My girlfriend sucked my best friends’ dick. That's the answer to a lot of questions about friends and nervous breakdowns. It was embarrassing, people fucking laughed at me.
Any plans to hit Europe any time soon?
no
Time for some random questions to get to know your musical preferences a little better! What¹s playing on your stereo at the moment?
Rilo Kiley
What song that is currently on the radio do you shamefully admit to liking?
Since you been gone, kelly clarkson
Everyone has this one CD they listen to when they want to get away from everyday life¹s worries. Which record would that be for you?
doggystyle.
Any last words to the European fans?
I'm tired and lonely and hope I die.
