Alexisonfire at Zaal Centrum (Meerhout-Gestel)

Last time Alexis were in Belgium, they also played this venue, but that time they had tthe stage removed, so we didn't see too much, this time they luckily didn't.
Campus
I arrived a little late, So I missed the better part of their set, but I liked what I saw, to be honest. I’ve seen’em before already, they’re okay, everything but original, they make your typical dime a dozen post-hardcore/emo, great when you hear it for the first time, but hard to separate from the lot after a couple of listens.
One remark about they’re merch though; don’t you guys think that’s a little too much like Thursday’s new artwork?
Johnny Truant
Metal(core), a music style which you can either enjoy or hate when it’s brought to you live, well I loved it, great yelling, tight guitar work. They did one hell of a job up on that stage! Indeed there was a stage this time, unlike the previous time both Johnny Truant and Alexis played this venue.
Moneen
The band I didn’t know, the promoters labelled them as “emo” and they were pretty right for doing so. I’m definitely not someone who doesn’t like emo, but I didn’t like this. To me is seems they wanted to sound like Matchbook Romance meets Taking Back Sunday, but they didn’t succeed. I like MBR and some of TBS’s stuff, but Moneen were pretty boring.
Alexisonfire
The band we had all come to see. Because of the date there wasn’t a huge turnout like the previous time, which both the crowd and the band fondly remembered. The energy of this band, especially the singer, just blows me off my feet. The singer spent as much time in the crowd as he spent on stage. They apologized for playing some new songs, but that wasn’t necessary, because we all seemed to like these. In between the songs there was also great interaction, Alexis are one of these bands who really love what they do and are able to project this onto the crowd!
