Some years ago, ex-members of bands like GA Sportlife and Easy Way Out (among others) joined ranks to start up a new band. A new band that was willing to create some music, without the need to be labelled or the urgency to fall into a specific category. A Refreshing sound, innovative structures and a strong focus on the (hardcore) groove, that was all they needed to get this new band going.
Sure, they were influenced by some classic bands (who isn't ) and hey, what's wrong with great bands like Helmet, Quicksand, Mars Volta or Refused...? After having played a whole bunch of local shows, AAL(t) started working on a first demo cd, that was released in 2002.
This first demo 'the simplification of Seattle' received a warm welcome in the local scene and the band started playing out more and more. In the meantime, they began writing more and more new songs and got in contact with funtime records. Since both label and band got together real well, this resulted in a deal.
In the fall of 2004, AAL(t) recorded their debut cd 'Speakermouth' at dé Studio in Asse with the productional assistance of Dirk Miers. Mastering was done at the famous Electric City Studio in Brussels and the result is a fresh, dynamic and great debut cd, filled with songs that dare to push the boundaries and kick ass seriously. The classic Helmet song 'Unsung' was also recorded and added as an extra. Generic thirteen-in-a-dozen hardcore lovers, stay away from this, cause this is f*cking spicy!!!
So AddActionListener(this) recently released their debute CD called “Speakermouth” on Belgium’s Funtime Records. Some of the most mentionned references are: Helmet, Snapcase, Refused, RATM, Nine... Last year addAction played quite some shows and shared stages with nice bands such as Converge, Strung Out, Nine, The Hope Conspiracy, Ignite, Waterdown, Cataract, SL27, Reprisal... The Speakermouth reviews have been extremely well:
